Early Years Worker - SunderlandJob description: Location: Sunderland Start Date: ASAP Position: Full-time/Part-time Early Years Worker The purpose of this role is to plan for and support the delivery of high quality, inclusive, childcare, play and learning opportunities for children aged 2-4 years in the area of Sunderland.

The main purposes of the job include: 1. To create a welcoming, stimulating and safe environment in which children are supported to learn and develop. 2. To deliver excellent practice across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 3. To respond to the learning and developmental needs of children in our care 4. To work effectively as a member of a child-centred team 5. To develop positive relationships with parents, carers and other partners to ensure that the needs of children are met. Main Responsibilities: 1. To work with the Lead Early Years Professional to implement the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2. To contribute to the delivery of high quality, inclusive childcare, and early education, which is responsive to the needs of children and their families. 3. To contribute to the establishment of a safe, welcoming environment, including a range of child-led and adult initiated experiences, activities and play opportunities in indoor, and outdoor environments which enable children to develop and learn. 4. To observe, monitor and record childrens learning and development 5. To work in a non-discriminatory, culturally sensitive manner which encourages all families to access the service. 6. To ensure that accurate and up to date records are kept. 7. To ensure that health, safety and hygiene standards are maintained to relevant regulatory standards. 8. To report and record any concerns regarding childrens well-being and development to the Lead Early Years Professional. 9. To have high expectations of all children and demonstrate a commitment to ensuring that they can achieve their full potential. 10. Implement, and contribute to the review of policies and procedures within the setting. 11. To ensure that the service delivery is maintained within current legislative requirements including the Welfare Requirements, Health and Safety and Safeguarding. 12. To work in partnership with parents / carers and other family members, to support childrens learning, development and well-being. 13. Work as an effective member of a team which seeks to provide solid foundations for childrens learning and development. 14. Engage in learning and continual professional development opportunities. 15. Create and contribute to a working culture and practices that recognise, respect and value difference. 16. Undertake any other duties as may be appropriate and required from time to time. Person Specification Essential requirements of the post Experience and qualifications: 路 A level 3 qualification in; Early Years, Childcare, Childrens Care, Learning and Development or equivalent. 路 Recent and extensive experience of working with young children, particularly two-year-olds and delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.路 Experience of providing quality and stimulating play and learning opportunities for young children 路 Experience of working with disabled children, young people and parents/carers and of delivering an inclusive child-centred service.路 Experience of working as a member of a child-centred team. Knowledge and Understanding 路 A good knowledge and understanding of the EYFS, Ofsted standards and relevant current legislation. 路 A good understanding of the developmental needs of young children, particularly of the two-year-old age group.路 Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures Skills and Abilities 路 Through observation and reflection, the ability to provide play and learning opportunities to meet the play and developmental needs of children in your care. 路 To provide a simulating and enriched environment to support childrens learning and development. 路 To engage children in outdoor play and reconnect children to nature and the benefits of natural play. 路 Flexibility, initiative and the ability to vary and change according to childrens need. 路 Ability to communicate with people in a form and manner that is consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating. 路 A creative approach to meeting the needs of children and families. 路 Good attendance record.
