KCR Solutions are delighted to assisting our client as their search for a new Finance Manager. The role will sit within the Central Finance Function and will lead and direct the preparation of monthly management accounts and variance analysis that supports the Group Companies. The Finance Manager will be supporting the Head of Central Finance and will be pivotal in the development of the shared finance function. Managing a team of 2 and providing guidance and mentoring to the team.

Our client is based on the outskirts of Sunderland and operates a hybrid working model. This role will be split between the office location and remote working.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Head of Central Finance in delivering monthly management accounts
  • Lead and manage a team ensuring effective communication, collaboration and performance.
  • Set clear performance goals and conduct regular reviews
  • Reviewing quarterly VAT returns including turnover reconciliations
  • Supporting the payroll reconciliations for multiple companies within the group
  • Take a lead role in the preparation of year end accounts for entities with the group and assistance with the year end audit and liaising with external auditors

As Finance Manager, you will be ultimately responsible for, and will assist in the delivery of the following:

  • Manage the delivery of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict deadlines, whilst taking ultimate responsibility for the accuracy of the P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Efficiently manage the delivery of interim and year-end audit deliverables ensuring adherence to audit timetable.
  • Manage intercompany billing processes to ensure accurate and timely billing to other group companies.
  • Accruals and Prepayments
  • Oversee and approve payment runs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of payments.
  • Ensure VAT is appropriately and accurately recorded for all claims
  • Identify and assist in the implementation of opportunities to streamline and automate processes
  • Assist with audit queries as required
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required by the Head of Central Finance and wider finance function
  • Maintaining an appropriate control environment ensuring team members understand their responsibility for compliance and risk management

Further responsibilities as Finance Manager:

  • Support Strategic Initiatives: Assist the Head of Finance in defining and implementing strategic initiatives related to financial management and planning.
  • Evaluate and Manage Risks: Assess and manage financial risks across the organisation. Identify and drive initiatives to enhance financial efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Support New Brand Integrations: Assist in integrating new brands into the financial processes, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to best practices.
  • Lead Process Improvements: Identify and drive automation and efficiency initiatives within financial operations. Lead and project manage these initiatives with support from the Finance team.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial planning.
  • Team Development and Management: Support the development of the Finance team, ensuring they are high-performing and well-structured to meet business needs.

The Person

  • Qualified Accountant - ACA / ACCA / CIMA
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
