Prospero Teaching are working with a Primary School in Sunderland who are looking for experienced Teaching Assistants to support a pupils in KS1 and KS2 on a full-time basis from January 2025.

The role will involve supporting the pupils with their learning on a small group and 1:1 basis, so the successful candidate will need to be a resilient practitioner and have excellent relationship-building skills.

Pay rate is negotiable depending on experience.

This role will involve:
Supporting a pupil with SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis.
Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
Building and maintaining positive relationships with Class Teachers to support the pupil and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities to promote pupil progress.
Preparing resources for learning activities and lessons.
Supervising pupils at break times and lunch times as required.
Having a "hands on" approach to supporting the pupils in their learning, with a willingness to interact, engage and form a positive rapport with the pupil.
Liaising with parents and outside agencies to discuss progress as required.


This role requires:
An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
Ideally a recognised Childcare-based qualification, although again, this is not essential.
An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
Experience of supporting pupils in a School setting.
Ideally experience of 1:1 Support within a School setting
High levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with pupils.
A genuine passion for supporting young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
An enthusiastic approach and a willingness to engage with and form positive relationships with pupils.
