Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Transport Planner to join the logistics team of a well-known manufacturing company near Sunderland. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing the transportation of goods using third-party hauliers. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Schedule Transport: Develop and implement efficient transport plans to ensure timely delivery of goods, considering factors such as cost, route optimization, and delivery deadlines.
  • Coordinate with Hauliers: Liaise with third-party hauliers to arrange transportation, negotiate rates, and ensure compliance with service agreements.
  • Monitor Transport Operations: Track and monitor the progress of shipments, addressing any issues or delays promptly to minimize disruption.
  • Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of transport activities, including shipment details, costs, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure all transport activities comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to transportation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the transport planning function.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
