Zenith People are working with our client who are recruiting for an experienced Controls Systems Engineer on a permanent basis.

Outline and Responsibilities:

Representing the Engineering Department in all aspects of designing, developing and implementing solutions, the main duties & responsibilities are as follows:-

  • Application of systems engineering tools and techniques
  • Set and measure system performance KPIs
  • Provide operational support of IT & OT equipment integration, focusing on MES, Traceability, AIoT (smart factory) technology and data logging.
  • Provide operational support of site building management systems/energy management systems (BMS/EMS) including system integration and development.
  • Liaising with outside suppliers or developers to source the most effective hardware or software solution in line with the business’s needs.
  • Co-ordination of concern investigation, specification gap analysis and root cause analysis.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to users within the company and outside customers, both verbally and in writing.
  • Prepare documentation for a program/application’s intended use as well as any safety related instructions.
  • Support project specific safety documentation to standard requirements
  • Building robust backups that can be assessed in the event of a system failure.
  • Demonstrate excellence in the programing of PLC. HMI and SCADA applications, supporting system concept system design including drafting diagrams and sourcing components.
  • Determine test criteria for FAT, SAT and PT.
  • Test new applications within automation equipment for reliability and safety compliance.
  • Be responsible for testing programs, applications and equipment developed by third party suppliers.
  • Compile test data and check specifications are met.
  • Provide fine-tuning of the productivity and dependability of an application

Desired Qualifications

  • Degree/HND/HNC and/or 5 years relevant experience in Electrical/Control Engineering.
  • Planning, schedule control & project management.
  • Good written, verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good knowledge of SPC and controls.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Engineering and the standards associated.
  • Have a strong understanding of the design principles related to electrical systems and software engineering.
  • Be able to write software code from 'scratch’ with minimal additional support.
  • Possess strong analytical reasoning skills that allow you to troubleshoot and avoid problems.
  • Experience of one of the following PLC platforms (Mitsubishi IQ-R, Siemens S7-1200/1500 or Omron CJ/NJ/NX).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of mass-manufacturing automatic systems including experience with motion, vision, robotic, sensing technologies and the associated data acquisition of those systems.
  • Proven ability to design fault-tolerant system with error handling and recovery.
  • Ability to program machines for complex processes which involve multi-station parallel processing, pick and place automation, data acquisition and PID control.
