Yard Operative
Celsa Recycling UK Sunderland (SR2 8DH)
Salary £28,000 Monday Friday 7am-4pm
Joining our Sunderland Scrap yard, youll be covering all jobs in the yard. One day youll be operating a weighbridge and completing maintenance checks, the next youll be operating various machinery including 360-degree Material Handler Grab Cranes (Grab), Scrap Shears, Forklift Trucks and Excavators.
Some of your key responsibilities will be:
Operate the Grab to load lorries and containers, and to feed the shear with materials
Operate the Shear/baler
Update machine diary with relevant information ie: wear part changes, repairs, issues etc.
Complete daily check sheets relevant to plant machinery and general maintenance when required (ie: greasing, fueling etc.)
Undertaking all tasks in a safe and diligent manner and in accordance with all Company Safe Systems of Work, Policies, Process and Procedures
To undertake all necessary tasks as designated to you by the Yard Manager on a daily basis
The Scrap that youll process is sent to our Melt Shop where its recycled into new steel products were the largest producer of reinforcing steel in the UK and the second largest steel recycler in Europe.
The Person:
Ideally youll have experience driving machines similar to ours although all training will be provided. What is most import to us is your ability to learn and follow our safety procedures.

Sound knowledge of Health and Safety
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable
Experience driving/operating machines
