GSL Education Newcastle is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) for a rewarding position in a supportive school in Sunderland.

Job Summary: As a Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing personalized support to students with ASD, helping them navigate their educational journey and overcome any barriers to learning. Your role will involve working closely with the classroom teacher and the SENCO to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and deliver targeted interventions.

Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD):

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Work closely with the classroom teacher to support differentiated learning.
  • Help manage and encourage positive behaviour per the school's policies.
  • Support students in developing social and communication skills.
  • Assist with classroom activities and interventions tailored to students' needs.

Qualifications of SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD):

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • A compassionate and patient approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff.
  • A relevant education or child development qualification is desirable but not essential.
