About the Production Manager job

The purpose of your role will be to ensure a safe work environment for all employees, taking swift action in case of accidents. They will focus on developing a skilled, multitalented team and driving performance while manufacturing safe, legal food and reducing non-conformities. You will aim to meet business KPIs related to customer service, product quality, yield, labour efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, emphasising continuous improvement.

Key tasks

  • Commit to manufacturing safe and legal food while maintaining a supportive environment. Ensure all production requirements align with quality, cost, and delivery standards, and adhere to customer codes of practice.
  • Collaborate with other Area Managers to identify and resolve production issues, prioritize workloads, and reschedule tasks to meet customer demands. Lead the team in achieving weekly targets, optimizing labor utilization, and reducing absenteeism.
  • Organise work allocation, prepare shift handovers, and plan training and coaching for new team members. Attend meetings to facilitate effective communication between management and operatives, promoting a positive work ethic and team collaboration.
  • Identify standards for hygiene, housekeeping, and incident reporting, while providing a safe work system. Investigate product non-conformances, engage with customers during visits, and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.

About You

  • 5 years in leadership roles responsible for medium to large teams.
  • 5+ years in FMCG food industry supplying UK retailers.
  • Have a proven track record of developing front line leaders and providing results in a similar business.
