Yard Worker

FT Recruitment are recruiting for a dedicated and hardworking Yard Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the yard and warehouse area, ensuring that materials are handled efficiently and safely. This role requires a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and the ability to perform heavy lifting as part of daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials from lorries, ensuring proper handling and storage.
• Operate warehouse management systems to track inventory and manage stock levels.
• Assist in shipping and receiving processes, verifying the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Perform regular inspections of equipment and tools, reporting any mechanical issues as necessary.
• Build and assemble items as required for various projects within the yard.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Handle materials with care, ensuring proper techniques are used to prevent damage or injury.
• Collaborate with team members to optimise workflow and improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a warehouse or yard environment is preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 25 kg) consistently throughout the shift.
• Familiarity with materials handling practices and safety protocols is essential.
• Experience operating forklifts is advantageous; relevant certification may be required.
• Excellent organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining safety standards.
