Description

  • Reporting to the Design Lead the Press Tool Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing press tool and fixture designs, and implementing improvements to manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Quality, Innovation, attention to detail, sustainability, competitive enterprise, global capability, unique product, ease of use in all work-related activities. Understand company objectives and strive to meet or exceed the KPIs and metrics.
  • Mechanical design for new projects, turning concepts into cost effective press tool designs.
  • Design single, multi-stage and progression press tooling
  • Sub contractor and supplier liaison.
  • Investigate and undertake analysis on how to improve existing press tooling or components
  • Preparation of design solutions including CAD models, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, BOM's and related documentation. Dimension and geometrically tolerance part drawings to (BS 8888).
  • Perform essential material stress-strain analysis calculations and DFMEA/PFMEA analysis
  • Plan effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time, to standard and to budget
  • Evaluating manufacturing processes, researching and developing solutions to increase efficiency, reduce down time, waste and scrap.
  • Ensuring consistent repeatable processes and product quality
  • Providing manufacturing support and information for all processes.
  • Generating and maintaining product and process data and training.
  • Working and coordinating with members of the Design & technical team.

Profile

  • Recent experience, at least 3 + years in a Press Tooling Design Engineer role.
  • Degree/ HND/ HNC in a related field (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Proficient User of CREO or SOLIDWORKS 3D (CREO Parametric preferred)
  • Able to design pneumatic circuit schematics.
  • Knowledge and experience of material selection.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products
