Maintenance & Facilities Manager (Hands-On Electrical Engineer with Supervisory Skills)

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with proven leadership skills in Maintenance Engineering and Facilities Management. This is a hands-on role, reporting to the Operations Director, where your electrical engineering and management expertise are required to lead a team of 5 engineers. You will work in a modern facility with automated machinery, taking responsibility for the maintenance and repair of the building, plant machinery, and equipment. You will ensure the implementation and effectiveness of the planned preventative maintenance system, along with continued site improvements and legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop your team.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Engage daily in resolving technical issues in a high-spec, complex facility.
  • Process Improvement: Implement best-in-class engineering and maintenance processes.
  • Cost Management: Manage maintenance costs, service contracts, and resource allocation.
  • Autonomous Maintenance: Develop an autonomous maintenance department integrated with other business teams.
  • Spare Parts Management: Ensure the right spares are always available.
  • Supplier Management: Maintain good relationships and accountability with suppliers.
  • Project Implementation: Drive and complete improvement projects.

Ideal Candidate Qualities and Experience:

  • Electrical, mechanical, and facilities experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Electrical PLC skills.
  • Proven experience in leading and developing teams with good coaching skills.
  • Previous project management experience.
  • Professional, hands-on approach with the ability to get involved on the tools.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Self-starter with a can-do attitude and a drive to achieve.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, plan, and prioritize workload with a practical, flexible, and innovative approach.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Ability to perform under tight deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team.
