Location: Sutton-in-Ashfield

Salary: 25,000 - 35,000



Metalis are working with a well established engineering business who specialise in the machining of complex one off components through to large batch work pieces. This will be an integral role for the business with a clear route to a senior Operations Role.

You will need a strong understanding of machining or production processes and be comfortable challenging individuals to deliver solutions which will optimise the facility & profitability.



Due to the size of the business there is no relocation or sponsorship opportunities for this role.



Job Duties:

  • Work to reduce lead times and improve overall production efficiency, contributing to the company's success through a smooth flow of orders.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), interpreting data to support decision-making across the production facility.
  • Proactively identify, suggest, and implement processes that drive continuous improvement within the production workflow. Floor layouts, Rotas, Machine run times etc.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations within the production and warehouse facility.
  • Working with the machinists on site, listening to their problems, bringing solutions to improve overall feel of the facility.
  • Oversee machine maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production operations. Logging of PPM Charts and breakdowns.
  • Coordinate production schedules with teams to reduce downtime, maximize flow, and meet customer demands.
  • Lead SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People) boards in collaboration with the Quality team to drive engagement and accountability.
  • Support the creation of a training and development program for team members wishing to enhance their skills and career progression.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to take a proactive approach in notifying customers about potential delays in the dispatch of their orders.



Job Requirements:

  • Must come from a production or shopfloor environment.
  • Ability to interpret and read complex data sets to spot gaps for improvement.
  • Must be a strong communicator and attentive listener
  • Have high standards of work with an importance on quality.
