Wire Eroder / Tool Making

Working within a team responsible for the manufacture of Mould Tools, Jigs and Fixtures. The team design, build and test items for use in the production of parts for Aerospace, Transport and Science sectors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Essential skills include the operation of EDM CNC Wire Eroders, Spark Eroders and Fast Hole drilling machines
  • Applicants should also have the ability to work from engineering drawings to produce and/or modify injection mould tools
  • Desirable, (but not essential) is the ability to operate CNC Milling machines with an understanding of CAM software.
  • Produce jigs and fixtures to aid production cells through the business
  • To work from engineering drawings to help supply parts of a suitable quality and functionality to satisfy project manufacture of trial and conceptual development components.
  • Occasional operation, if required, of manual machines such as millers, lathes and surface grinders in the role of benchman
  • Deliver best practice during the manufacture and delivery of quality, checked components, applying attention to detail to all items

The ideal person will be time-served apprenticeship trained or hold an HND in Mechanical Engineering with previous experience of Toolmaking and be conversant with all traditional machining and fitting practices.
