Mechanic

Location: Cheam, Surrey

Wages: 28,000 to 32,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Our local authority contractor seeks a Mechanic to maintenance and repair machinery and equipment. The role requires prioritising workloads and the successful candidate will work autonomously, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

Duties include:

  • Carrying out machinery inductions for colleagues to ensure competence
  • Creating a positive impression with customers to exceed expectations
  • Always presenting a polite and responsible attitude
  • Attending meetings and reporting faults and machinery issues to management
  • Help maintain an asset register and assigning new equipment with Company asset numbers
  • Maintaining accurate service and repair records for audit
  • Ensure a routine maintenance program for machines
  • Plan and organise your own workload efficiently
  • Communicate effectively, keeping colleagues informed to ensure understanding
  • Complete documentation for review
  • Work within Health & Safety guidelines
  • Understand and work to risk assessments, reporting accidents and near misses as and when required
  • Inform management of any abuse to plant and machinery that has taken place
  • Ensure appropriate checks and records are kept
  • Show initiative and make suggestions for improvements that may lead to increased productivity
  • Show a rigorous concern for the security of company buildings, vehicles, machinery and materials
