Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical services projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Tender Preparation: Develop comprehensive tender submissions, ensuring all client requirements are addressed and proposals are submitted within specified deadlines.
- Supplier and Subcontractor Engagement: Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project specifications.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and opportunities within project scopes and incorporate appropriate contingencies into estimates.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including project managers and engineers, to ensure estimates align with project goals and technical requirements.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of estimates, correspondence, and other relevant documentation for future reference and analysis.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical estimating within the construction or building services industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of mechanical systems and engineering principles, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent mathematical and analytical abilities to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, suppliers, and team members.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with estimating software and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
