Head of FinanceSalary: £75,000= £80,000Based near Epsom, hybrid working available.My client is a high performing multi-academy trust dedicated to delivering high-quality, inclusive education across multiple schools. This role will provide financial sustainability and value for money across the trust, enabling schools to focus on what truly matters—education.As the Head of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the financial strategy of the Trust. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will lead a high-performing finance team, ensuring financial sustainability, compliance, and operational excellence. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, guiding financial decision-making and enhancing financial transparency across the schools.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance with the Academy Policies, ESFA regulations, and statutory financial requirements.
  • Manage internal and external audits, maintaining a robust financial control environment.
  • Oversee cash flow, treasury management, and financial systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, SAP Concur)
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial operations and reporting.
  • Support Headteachers and budget holders in financial planning and decision-making.
  • Lead and develop a team of finance professionals.
Requirements for this role
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Ideally, significant financial leadership in a multi-academy trust (MAT), education, public sector, or non-profit organisation
  • Strong understanding of ESFA funding mechanisms, charity accounting, and regulatory compliance
  • Strategic thinker, excellent communicator, and problem-solver with strong analytical skills
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a collaborative environment.
