Start Date: January 2024
Contract: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
Location: Sutton
Salary: £200 to £250 per day – (Possibility of going onto a permanent contract straight away for the right candidate- MPS/UPS)

 

About the school:
We are working with a specialist provision that are dedicated to creating a nurturing and dynamic learning environment for children with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). Their approach blends semi-formal teaching with a child-led curriculum, prioritising each student’s unique interests and passions to foster engagement and growth.

The Role:
They are seeking a compassionate and innovative teacher to lead a class of primary-aged children with PDA. As a PDA Teacher, you will create a semi-formal learning environment that empowers students through their core interests.

A Typical Day Includes:

  • Morning Learning: 20-30 minutes of semi-formal teaching in Mathematics, English, and Reading.
  • Afternoon Subjects: Facilitating lessons in Science, Computing, Citizenship/PSHE, Creative Arts, PE, and Humanities.
  • Encouraging backdoor learning by tailoring the curriculum to the children’s passions and incorporating hands-on, child-led activities.
  • Collaborating with children to design individualised curriculum plans that nurture their creativity and curiosity.

  • A qualified teacher with experience or interest in working with children with PDA or additional needs.
  • Strong understanding of child-led learning and the ability to adapt the curriculum to meet individual needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and creative educator with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Qualifications:  QTS
