Salt is looking for an experienced Digital & IT leader to drive transformation and innovation within a complex local government environment in South London. This is an opportunity to shape the future of digital services, AI, and data strategy, ensuring technology enhances service delivery, efficiency, and citizen engagement.

Role Overview:
  • Title: Director of Digital & IT Transformation
  • Location: South London (Hybrid)
  • Duration: 3-6 months (Full-time Contract)
  • Rate: £700-£750 per day (Umbrella)
  • Start Date: Mid/Late March
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the digital and IT transformation strategy, ensuring alignment with council priorities.
  • Drive AI adoption and data capability to enhance public services.
  • Oversee IT modernisation, legacy system migration, and cloud transformation.
  • Ensure cybersecurity, compliance, and information governance are effectively managed.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders, elected officials, and external partners to deliver innovation.
  • Develop and implement a technology roadmap that supports service improvement and efficiency.
Who We're Looking For:
  • Proven experience in leading digital and IT transformation at a senior level, preferably in local government.
  • Strong understanding of AI, data strategy, and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrable expertise in portfolio management, service design, and IT consolidation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working alongside public sector bodies, LOTI, and GDS.
  • Ability to drive measurable change while balancing competing priorities across a complex organisation.
