Digital Media Officer

Location: Sutton SM1   (travel across other sites will be required) 

Salary: Grade 3/4, Spine points 14-21, FTE £28,519 - £30,626 per annum, (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance. Actual Salary: £26,925.77 - £28,915.06 per annum

Job Type: Full time, Fixed term

Working Pattern: 36 hours per week, Monday – Thursday, 8.45am – 4.30pm, & Friday 8.45am – 4.15pm

Contract: Fixed Term for 12 months based on working during Term Time plus 4 weeks in the school holidays only

The College and Academy Trust is a family of specialist education providers for over 1500 pupils and students from nursery to further education across 14 academies and 8 college centres in London, Surrey, Sussex and Berkshire. Supporting their academies and college, they also operate learning support, such as nursing and therapy, and a central business support team which includes HR, finance and IT.

The Role

They are seeking a highly motivated, creative and analytically minded individual with a strong understanding of digital and social media, an aptitude for producing engaging written and visual contents, including graphics, photos, videos, and blog posts, to showcase and manage the Trust’s social media accounts. You will work with their students and staff to develop captivating content, therefore the ability to be able to regularly travel to their sites in Greater London and Home Counties (sometimes at short notice) is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow social media channels including content creation, scheduling, and analysis.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies and creative campaigns
  • Design, create and edit engaging content using standard formats
  • Ability to use design software – InDesign preferred, proficient at Canva as a minimum
  • Schedule content on specialised platforms
  • Analyse/review data for social media campaigns & propose new content
  • Make recommendations based on social media engagement
  • To engage with followers
  • Research competitors
  • Work within brand guidelines and be brand aware
  • Update and edit websites using Word Press
  • Update and edit staff intranet
  • To use MS Office Suite, Scheduling tools such as Buffer, Social Media Platforms such as YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Being able to work autonomously as well as in a team to deadlines and under pressure effectively.
  • Build relationships with colleagues at all levels to gather content
  • Work flexibly across schools and sites to gather content
  • Deliver creative infographics and supporting visuals for social media
  • To actively promote equality and diversity, recognise and actively challenge stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination ensuring that these principles permeate all working practices.
  • To promote and implement all agreed policy statements, e.g. Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults, Health & Safety, Equality and Diversity etc.
  • To work at any Academy & College centre as required.
  • To undertake such other duties of a similar nature from time to time as may be required by the Principal.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Educated to Level 3 – A Level (A-C) or equivalent
  • Experienced and high level of written & verbal communication skills
  • Experience of using Microsoft Windows applications / Other information systems
  • Previous experience of working with digital and social media
  • Previous experience using design software
  • Ability to travel between sites
  • Ability to take direction and meet deadlines
  • Able to work as part of a team 1 Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work on a number of projects at once and prioritise workload.
  • Ability to be proactive, use initiative and take personal responsibility for all work.
  • Ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders
