Engage Education are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to become part of a team in South West London, supporting neurodiverse young people aged 11 to 19. The students all have Education, Health and Care plans, with needs such as SEMH, ASD, and related conditions. The School's aim is to foster an environment where students can develop socially, emotionally, and academically.
The school follows a therapeutic approach to education, with strong pastoral care and behavior management strategies. Within the Primary environment the focus is on providing high-quality education in a nurturing setting. The students here may have been excluded from mainstream primary education or are currently non-attenders. It is essential that the teacher creates a safe, secure, and student-centred environment that priorities the well-being of each pupil.
Role Details - Qualified Teacher
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons across all areas of teaching and learning
- Create progress reports for individual students, along with statistics and regular updates to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and thematic projects
- Implement interventions based on Individual Education and Behaviour Plans
- Use positive reinforcement as a key strategy for managing behaviour
- Maintain professional and personal boundaries at all times
- Ensure proper risk assessments are conducted and maintained
Person Specification - Qualified Teacher
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent qualification
- Have at least two years of experience in teaching, ideally within the primary or SEND sector
- Have recent experience teaching in primary, SEND, or nurture-focused settings
- Be able to respond calmly and effectively to children with complex and co-occurring neurodiverse needs
- Demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
- Be familiar with the National Curriculum and SEND Code of Practice
- Work collaboratively and approach problem-solving with creativity
