Clearfield Recruitment have partnered with a dynamic and growing SME main contractor specializing in high-quality residential developments. Their projects range in value from £1.5 to £5 million, and they pride ourselves on delivering excellence from design to completion.

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team and work on multiple residential sites. You will be responsible for overseeing 3-4 projects simultaneously, working closely with project teams to ensure cost control and budget management. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from start to finish and to grow with the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the financial aspects of 3-4 residential projects at any one time.
  • Prepare detailed cost plans, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
  • Handle procurement and buying for the projects, including sourcing materials and negotiating with suppliers.
  • Monitor project budgets, track variations, and manage change control processes.
  • Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure smooth delivery of projects on time and within budget.
  • Conduct site visits and valuations, preparing monthly reports and final accounts.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to provide financial insight and guidance.
  • Play a key role in business growth, with the potential to take on a leadership role in the future.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within SME main contracting, with a focus on residential projects.
  • Skills: Strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and experience in buying/procurement.
  • Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar construction-related qualification.
  • Attributes: Self-motivated, proactive, with the ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
  • Future Growth: Ambition to grow within the company, with the potential to take on a senior leadership role as the business expands.
