Purpose of the Role:

The HR & Recruitment Officer will provide essential administrative support to the Employee Relations Manager and the wider HR team. This includes managing HR processes, recruitment, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

HR Support:

  • Provide generalist HR administrative support to the HR team.
  • Ensure HR records are accurate, confidential, and up-to-date.
  • Lead on the College's Single Central Register, ensuring compliance and providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Respond to HR-related queries, escalating complex issues as needed.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Manage job vacancies on internal and external platforms.
  • Screen applications, shortlist candidates, and arrange interviews.
  • Conduct pre-employment checks, including DBS, and support onboarding processes.

General Administration:

  • Support payroll processes and respond to pay-related queries.
  • Produce and analyse HR reports to identify trends and support decision-making.
  • Assist with HR meetings, including scheduling, preparing materials, and minute-taking.
  • Liaise with the Borough HR payroll and pensions teams on relevant matters.
General Duties:
  • Uphold health and safety standards and College policies, including safeguarding, equal opportunities, and data protection.
  • Participate in appraisals and continuous professional development.
  • Act as an effective and flexible team member to achieve departmental and strategic College targets.
  • Carry out additional duties as required by the Line Manager.
