As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the finance function. Working alongside a collaborative finance team, you'll be responsible for supporting on the month-end processes, financial reporting, and supporting cash flow management. You'll also engage with Operations to oversee stock control and provide financial analysis to aid in decision-making. This is a hands-on position perfect for someone who enjoys tackling a broad range of tasks in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Finance Team on month-end duties, including preparation of management information and reporting.
- Manage the sales ledger, from posting cash receipts to ensuring compliance with credit insurance policies and handling credit control.
- Take ownership of variance analysis, preparing key accruals, prepayments, and maintaining the fixed asset register.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including inter-company accounts, and support cash flow forecasting.
- Conduct stock audits and manage re-ordering levels in partnership with Operations.
- Produce monthly departmental expenditure reports and maintain daily KPI schedules.
- Support audits, ensuring the company's financial records are audit-ready.
- Dive into ad-hoc analysis and project work, contributing to ongoing improvements in processes.
What We're Looking For:
- Qualifications: AAT Qualified or part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
- Experience: Ideally, exposure to manufacturing environments or SMEs. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is advantageous.
- Skills: High level of accuracy, proactive problem-solver, and proficient in Excel (pivot tables, lookups).
- Mindset: Team player with a proactive and inquisitive approach, always considering the broader impact of financial actions on the business.
