About the Role:
We are working with a public sector organisation in seeking a dedicated and passionate Environmental Coordinator to oversee the continuous improvement of their environmental performance and ensure our certification to the ISO14001 environmental management system. This role is pivotal in driving positive environmental change within the organisation and the local community.
Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Performance Improvement:
- Coordinate the ongoing enhancement of the Organisation's environmental performance.
- Ensure the Organisation maintains ISO14001 certification through internal audits, process and document management, resolving non-conformities, and liaising with external auditors.

Advisory Role:
- Advise the Head of Environmental Services, the Corporate Environmental Sustainability Group, and the Senior Leadership Team on accreditation progress and non-conformity resolutions.

Technical Leadership:
- Act as a technical lead in promoting positive environmental changes within controlled activities.

Coordination and Mainstreaming:
- Lead the Organisation's Corporate Environmental Sustainability Group, ensuring key objectives and deliverables are integrated into the strategic and operational business of the Council.

Action Plan Support:
- Provide expertise and support in delivering the Organisation’s Climate and Environment Action Plan and developing future iterations.
Essential Criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Degree in a relevant environmental science.
- Experience: Knowledge and experience in implementing ISO14001 or other environmental management systems and working with UK environmental law.
- Skills: Excellent influencing, communication, and organisational skills with a strong drive to make a difference.
- Mobility: Ability to travel to South Derbyshire and remote sites within the district. A driving license and access to a vehicle are essential.
