Finance Business Partner | Swadlincote | £70,000 + Benefits

Are you a commercially focused finance professional with experience in long-term contract accounting? We're looking for a Finance Business Partner to support a leading manufacturing business in Swadlincote. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with operational and project teams, providing financial insights to drive performance on long-term contracts and complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with project leads, operational managers, and senior stakeholders to provide financial insights and guidance.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, challenging assumptions and driving informed decision-making.
  • Support cross-functional teams in cost control, margin analysis, and operational efficiency improvements.

Long-Term Contract & Project Accounting

  • Monitor and manage financial performance across long-term contracts, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and cost allocation in line with IFRS 15 and contract accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers to track contract milestones, WIP (work-in-progress) reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • Ensure accurate financial forecasting for large-scale manufacturing projects, identifying risks and opportunities.

P&L Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Prepare and present monthly P&L reports, ensuring variances are well understood and corrective actions are in place.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting process for key contracts and operational cost centres.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis on margins, cost drivers, and revenue streams to support strategic planning.

Cost Control & Process Improvement

  • Drive cost efficiency by analysing material costs, labour utilisation, and overhead absorption.
  • Implement and refine financial controls and reporting to ensure compliance with both internal policies and external regulations.
  • Work with operational teams to improve efficiency, profitability, and cash flow management.

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Utilise financial modelling and scenario analysis to support capital investment decisions, contract negotiations, and pricing strategies.
  • Develop KPIs and financial dashboards to provide real-time visibility into contract performance.
What We're Looking For:

Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with experience in manufacturing finance.Strong knowledge of long-term contract accounting, WIP, and IFRS 15 compliance.Proven ability to partner with non-financial stakeholders, influencing decision-making and driving financial performance.Experience in ERP systems and financial reporting tools, with a data-driven mindset.Ability to identify risks, challenge assumptions, and drive continuous improvement.
