Trainee Estimator - Solar PV

Alecto Recruitment are working with a leading provider of Solar PV solutions based in Kent, who are now looking to appoint a Junior Solar PV Estimator on a full time and permanent basis.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Technical Design Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for solar PV installations, working closely with sales, design, and project management teams to ensure projects are completed within budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing initial cost estimates solar installations, developing price schedules and bid proposals, and examining or analysing the technical aspects of a project.
  • Calculate costs based on blueprints, drawings, maps, or other reference materials provided by architects or engineers
  • Compile estimates of labour costs and material costs to prepare bids for construction projects
  • Assisting the client in making effective decisions in order to successfully win bids
  • Reviewing the data and documentation such as analysis reports, whilst seeking more orders
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain bids for materials and services needed for construction projects, and review bids from vendors to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Forecast how long it will take to complete the project.
  • Filing documentation and collecting information useful to the project estimate
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, contracts, and project costs for future reference and audits.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Previous experience in construction sector preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Well developed and efficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management and scheduling skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work and be efficient under pressure
