SEND Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support to a specific child within a primary school setting. This role includes assisting with personal hygiene and occasionally covering for other children within the SEN provision. The ideal candidate will have experience in primary education or SEND environments and be committed to making a positive impact on students' educational journeys.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide one-to-one support to a specific child, focusing on both educational and personal development.
  • Assist with personal hygiene needs as required.
  • Support other children within the SEN provision as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and report on the child's progress to teachers and parents.
  • Create a supportive and understanding environment to help the child thrive both academically and personally.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary or SEND setting.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of children with special educational needs.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with compassion and discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient and resilient approach to working with children with additional needs.
