A highly regarded Health & Safety Construction Consultancy specialising in Principal Design services is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to head up a newly formed Building Regulations team based in Swansea.

This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the direction of a new team within an established and respected construction consultancy.

The Principal Designer Role

The successful Principal Designer will head up the new Building Regulations division, providing strategic leadership and technical expertise. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the latest Building Safety Act 2022 regulations and other statutory requirements.

This position offers a chance to work on a diverse range of projects across commercial, residential, and public sectors, collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals.

Principal Designer Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the new Building Regulations team.
  • Advise on compliance with the Building Safety Act and other regulatory requirements.
  • Provide the role of Principal Designer on complex and high-profile projects.
  • Work closely with clients, offering guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee the preparation of Pre-Construction Information (PCI) and Construction Phase Plans.
  • Manage project design risk assessments and review health and safety plans.

To be considered for the role of BSA Principal Designer you must have the following

  • Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022 and relevant Building Regulations.
  • Minimum of NEBOSH Certificate and membership of IOSH or APS.
  • Demonstrable experience as a Principal Designer within a construction consultancy.
  • A background in design, architecture, or construction.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage a team and provide training and mentoring as required.
