The Recruitment Co. is urgently recruiting a highly skilled and versatile Manufacturing Engineer to join our clients dynamic team in the Pontarddulais area.
Salary: Up to £37,380 (inc Shift allowance)
Hours of work: Full time 40 hours a week.
Initially 2 shifts: Mornings, Mon-Fri 6am-2pm / Afternoons, Mon-Thurs 2pm-midnight.
Eventually changing to a Rotating 3 shift pattern: Mon - Friday, Mornings 6am-2pm / Afternoons 2pm-10pm / Nights 10pm-6am.
Contract: Permanent
Main Purpose: This role ideally will require expertise in both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines. The successful candidate, preferably from a steel background, will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes and machinery, troubleshooting complex systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, safety, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Improvement: Develop and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Provide hands-on support for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex manufacturing machinery and systems (both mechanical and electrical).
- Project Management: Lead or support engineering projects, from concept through to implementation, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Automation & Robotics: Work with automated systems, robotics, and PLCs to ensure smooth integration and optimization of automated processes.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with operations, quality control, and production teams to identify and resolve issues affecting production.
- Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving: Perform root cause analysis to identify the underlying causes of mechanical and electrical failures and implement corrective actions.
- Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance schedules, and project reports.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all activities comply with health and safety standards, promoting a safe working environment.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in manufacturing engineering.
- Team Development: Provide information & training to manufacturing team members to resolve basic maintenance issues
Skills Required:
- Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical qualification.
- Experience: Proven experience (typically 3+ years) within the metal industry and an understanding of the manufacturing processes
- Multi-Skilled Expertise: Hands-on experience with a wide range of machinery and automation systems, including PLCs, robotics, and CNC machines.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex mechanical and electrical problems.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in CAD software, PLC programming, and other engineering tools.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with various teams and stakeholders effectively.
- Safety Knowledge: Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in a manufacturing setting.
- Self Motivation; must have a high degree of self motivation and the self discipline to work unsupervised
- Planning & organisation; must be proactive and have the ability to adapt quickly & effectively to unexpected changes
