A manufacturing company in Swansea has an immediate position available for a Quality Manager to join its experienced office engineering team. This rapidly expanding company manufactures bespoke machinery for British and foreign customers in the oil, gas and petro-chemical industries.

The Quality Manager will be the Management Representative for the day-to-day planning, operation and maintenance of the quality management system as defined in the Company quality manual, working with the works Manager & Engineering Manager for the day to day QA/QC matters in the Company.

The Quality Manager will report to the General Manager and be responsible for overseeing the Works Inspector(s), Materials Controller, NDT Supervisor, NDT Technicians, SHEQ Co-ordinaton.

Potential candidates must be a Welding Engineer (IWE / EWE Qualified or working towards).

Main Responsibilities

Liaising with Production Managers, Engineers, Works Inspectors and NDT to ensure timely and effective quality Control is exercised on company products. Creation and maintenance of Quality Procedures and the company quality Manual.

Identifying, implementing and progressing quality improvement projects to a successful conclusion and reporting on Customer complaints and Customer satisfaction responses.

Approve completed quality plans prior to issue and at contract close out together with final release of finished product.

Responsibility for NDT department operations and liaising with clients representatives & inspectors on QA/QC matters. Planning and coordinating Internal Audits.

The compilation & submission of data dossiers.

Welding Engineering, Welding procedure compiling & qualification, Welder approval qualification. Welding coordinator in accordance with ISO 14731.

Arranging & coordinating staff training and maintaining training records for each employee. Assisting Company Management in the implementation of the Companys Health & Safety and Environmental Control policies.

Assist with the maintaining of ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 quality management systems.

Educational & Experience Requirements

Minimum of 5 years experience at Senior Management level in a similar position.

Preferable experience in pressure equipment and manufacturing environment.

Qualified to HNC/HND level in an appropriate related subject.

Qualified European Welding Engineer/Technologist.

Hold a PCN/CSWIP in an NDT discipline is desirable.

Active member of the Institute of Quality Assurance with lead auditor qualifications is also desirable.

Desirable experience in running and maintaining an ASME S & U stamp quality system.
