Construction Manager - Gas Infrastructure (Contract)

A leading infrastructure delivery organisation within the UK energy sector is looking for an experienced Construction Manager to lead site delivery on a major gas infrastructure upgrade project. The role will support the replacement and upgrade of key Above Ground Installation (AGI) and Pressure Reduction Station (PRS) assets on the national transmission network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Begin planning and mobilisation activities from May (home-based).
  • Attend site full-time from July, overseeing delivery through a tight 10-week gas off period and broader project programme.
  • Manage and coordinate all construction activities across civil, mechanical, testing, and commissioning disciplines.
  • Act as primary site lead, ensuring works are delivered in line with programme milestones, safety requirements, and national gas specifications.
  • Provide leadership to contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams; ensure daily activities align with CDM regulations and Temporary Works requirements.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for site personnel, the client, and technical support staff.
  • Monitor and report on construction progress, risk, and resource requirements to ensure successful handover.


Requirements:

  • 10-15 years' experience managing complex gas infrastructure or utilities projects in the UK.
  • Proven experience with AGI/PRS upgrades, national gas procedures, and infrastructure delivery in time-constrained environments.
  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and TWC (Temporary Works Coordinator) responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with IGE,  TD/13 and other relevant UK gas specifications.
  • Ideally a Chartered Engineer or professional with demonstrable senior leadership in similar environments.
  • Able to lead under pressure, with excellent organisational, technical, and stakeholder management skills.
