Job: Business Development Manager
Location: Working Remotely covering South West Wales area
Salary: up to £46,800pa (which includes a monthly *car allowance)
Reporting into: Head of Business Development
Job Role:
To generate enquiries for viable loan applications, prepare loan assessments for sanctioning and develop the market for loans to small businesses
Main duties:
- Grow, develop and maintain the referral network amongst bank officials, brokers, accountants, business advisers and other intermediaries. Proactively engage with potential referrers to generate enquiries for loans
- Participate in sales activity to identify potential clients and develop lending propositions. Grow and achieve targets for new loans.
- Respond to and qualify initial loan enquiries
- Follow up with loan applicants and visit potential new borrowers to assess requirements. Secure other data necessary to perform sound appraisals and reviews and ensure information is recorded in customer files
- Provide guidance to potential borrowers, with business advisors where appropriate, to develop new loan applications
- Prepare loan applications for presentation to the credit sanctioning processing team
- Interpret key measures for clients enabling accurate initial and ongoing statistical reporting. Record information in customer files
- Maintain ongoing client relationships including monitoring, defaults and chasing bad debts
- Assist as required in the maintenance of regular payments from the current portfolio, working with the recoveries team in providing a local presence and intelligence as required.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with loan applicants, borrowers and advisors
- Promote the services of the company through attendance at networking meetings, conferences, trade fairs and other events
Qualifications & Experience required:
- Minimum 5 years loan officer experience gained at a Bank, Asset Finance Company, Invoice Discounter, other Business Lender or a combination of these.
- Existing referral network with good networking skills to develop this further.
- Experience working with intermediaries along with other business advisors and agencies.
- Ability to appraise and analyse a business in order to write a credit report.
- Business to Business sales.
- A strong understanding of SME’s and small business finance.
- Institute of Bankers or Financial Services qualification/ Business or sales qualification desirable
Hours:
37 hours per week. Flexible start time of 8am to 10am and flexible finish time of 4pm to 6pm.
Holidays:
28 days per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays and Birthday
Pension:
Up to 10% matching contribution to group personal pension scheme. Plus 4 x basic salary cover for death in service (after qualifying period)
