Mechanical Design Engineer - Greenodd, Lake District - Up to 45,000

KO2's client, a cutting-edge company that designs and develops electric car-based systems, is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team. Based in the picturesque Lake District, this exciting role offers an excellent salary of up to 45,000, with the opportunity to work on innovative projects in a dynamic and supportive environment.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for combining mechanical design expertise with an appreciation for industrial design and product aesthetics. You'll be involved in creating designs that balance smooth curves, hydro-dynamics, and functionality, without getting bogged down in pure number crunching. This is a role where creativity meets engineering, and the team needs a versatile designer who can thrive in both mechanical design and industrial design spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop mechanical designs and prototypes for electric car-based systems, considering both form and function.
  • Apply industrial design principles to create aesthetically pleasing products with smooth curves, lightweight materials, and a keen eye for detail.
  • Utilize your mechanical design knowledge to work with materials such as nylon, aluminium, stainless steel, and cold casting.
  • Engage with manufacturing processes and use tools such as machine tools and 3D printers to bring designs to life.
  • Collaborate closely with the electronics, embedded, and product design teams to ensure that your designs integrate seamlessly into the final products.

The ideal Mechanical Design Engineer will have:

  • Solid experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred, but any 3D CAD package will be considered).
  • An understanding of industrial design and the ability to contribute to both mechanical design and aesthetic elements of a product.
  • Practical experience with materials like nylon, aluminium, stainless steel, and cold casting.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and the ability to design with these processes in mind.
  • A passion for innovative product design and the technical aspects of mechanical engineering.
  • The ability to create aesthetically-pleasing designs that are also functional and manufacturable.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for industrial design and a strong desire to work on the next generation of electric vehicle technologies. If you're looking to bring your mechanical design skills to a company where your contributions will make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
