Financial Accountant

Robert Half are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Accountant to support our financial consolidation, reporting, and compliance efforts.

This is a contract role based in Swindon for approx 3 months.

The ideal candidate will have experience in month-end processes, cost centre reporting, and audit support, with a strong understanding of VAT and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Month-End Pack Preparation:

   • Prepare and compile the month-end financial pack, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
   • Analyse variances and provide insights to support management decision-making.

2. Financial Consolidation:

   • Assist in the consolidation of financial statements ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
   • Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary data for consolidation.

3. Cost Centre Reporting:

   • Generate and analyse cost centre reports to monitor performance against budgets.
   • Provide detailed insights and recommendations based on cost analysis.

4. Audit Support:

   • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
   • Ensure that financial records are well-organised and easily accessible.

5. Sales Reports:

   • Prepare and present sales reports, highlighting trends and key performance indicators.
   • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure accuracy and completeness of sales data.

6. ONS/FCA Reporting:

   • Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
   • Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure compliance.

7. VAT Compliance:

   • Assist with the preparation and filing of VAT returns.
   • Monitor VAT compliance and address any discrepancies or queries.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Sage software
• Knowledge of VAT regulations and compliance requirements.
• ACA /ACCA or equivalent professional qualification is a plus.
