About the Financial Controller role:

The Financial Controller will report directly to the Managing Director and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial information.

Duties & Responsibilities for the Financial Controller role:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements.
  • Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Manage the company's cash flow and monitor financial performance against budget.
  • Liaise with external auditors and other professional advisors as required.
  • Provide financial guidance and advice to department heads and other stakeholders across the business.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of tax returns and compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.

Experience & Skills required for the Financial Controller role:

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role, with a strong background in finance and accounting.
  • Experience working with Sage50.
  • A degree in accounting or finance, or a relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive and results-driven approach, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
