About the Financial Controller role:
The Financial Controller will report directly to the Managing Director and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial information.
Duties & Responsibilities for the Financial Controller role:
- Oversee the day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements.
- Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Manage the company's cash flow and monitor financial performance against budget.
- Liaise with external auditors and other professional advisors as required.
- Provide financial guidance and advice to department heads and other stakeholders across the business.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of tax returns and compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Experience & Skills required for the Financial Controller role:
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role, with a strong background in finance and accounting.
- Experience working with Sage50.
- A degree in accounting or finance, or a relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive and results-driven approach, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
