Are you an experienced Chemist with a background in Development, looking for a new and exciting opportunity with a International Manufacturing Business ? 

Role Purpose

We are seeking a Development Chemist to join our small but dynamic team specializing in the development of coating products for the automotive industry. This role involves a diverse range of responsibilities, including formulation, testing, and technical support, ensuring products meet stringent industry standards and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development:

  • Formulate and develop automotive coating products, including primers, basecoats, and clear coats, tailored to customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct stability testing and quality checks to ensure product consistency and performance.

Testing & Application:

  • Develop and validate methods in accordance with customer requirements and relevant legislative guidelines.
  • Conduct laboratory testing and apply products to assess performance under various conditions.
  • Perform product trials both in the laboratory and at customer facilities/sites.

Technical Reporting & Support:

  • Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation to support product development and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical support to the production team to ensure smooth scale-up and manufacturing processes.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all activities adhere to health, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant industry regulations and legislative requirements.

Key Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Competences

Essential:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (e.g., liquid engineering).
  • Strong understanding of coating technologies and formulation processes.

Desirable:

  • Previous industrial experience in a similar role, particularly within the automotive sector.
  • Familiarity with working in a small business environment and adaptability to handle repetitive tasks when necessary.

Personal Attributes:

  • Self-motivated with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when engaging with customers or production teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and innovation.

Salary & Benefits 

  • Salary up to £30,000 Depending on Experience.
