We are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator from a Civil Engineering background to join our client based at their Swindon Head Office.
Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible for estimating all project lifecycle stages, concept, study and detailed design.
- Prepare comprehensive bids and tender submissions within the required deadlines.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, overheads and subcontractor services for all projects.
- Conduct take-offs and quantity surveys from drawings calculating material and labour costs.
- Produce subcontractor enquiry schedule, obtaining suggestions/feedback from the tender team, procurement department and contractor schedules.
- Prepare full project estimates from conceptual design and prepare estimate reports.
- Foster internal and external relationships with staff, clients, engineers, stakeholders and attend meetings.
- Conduct ongoing market research on current costs of material, rates and trends within the industry and negotiate with sub-contractors and suppliers.
Requirements:
- Engineering degree desirable / certification or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years Estimator experience
- Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen
- Civil engineering project experience
- Excellent proficiency of Microsoft Office including advanced excel
- Highly organised, accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive, strategic and a multitasker
- Integrity to handle confidential information
- Previous experience in Rail is preferred.
