We are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator from a Civil Engineering background to join our client based at their Swindon Head Office.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for estimating all project lifecycle stages, concept, study and detailed design.
  • Prepare comprehensive bids and tender submissions within the required deadlines.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, overheads and subcontractor services for all projects.
  • Conduct take-offs and quantity surveys from drawings calculating material and labour costs.
  • Produce subcontractor enquiry schedule, obtaining suggestions/feedback from the tender team, procurement department and contractor schedules.
  • Prepare full project estimates from conceptual design and prepare estimate reports.
  • Foster internal and external relationships with staff, clients, engineers, stakeholders and attend meetings.
  • Conduct ongoing market research on current costs of material, rates and trends within the industry and negotiate with sub-contractors and suppliers.

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree desirable / certification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years Estimator experience
  • Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen
  • Civil engineering project experience
  • Excellent proficiency of Microsoft Office including advanced excel
  • Highly organised, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, strategic and a multitasker
  • Integrity to handle confidential information
  • Previous experience in Rail is preferred.
