Summary

We’re looking for a Fire Risk Assessor to join us covering the London & South East and East of England Region. Internally this role is known as: Operational Risk Assessor – Fire.

You'll work mostly within your home London and South East and East of England Region and be responsible for carrying out property-based fire risk assessments. You will hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel. This will involve over-night stays as and when required.

As this role covers the London and South East region, your contractual place of work will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.

What it's like to work here

We're bigger than you think, we're more complicated than we appear and we're larger scale than you'd imagine.

We've got passionate people in all our teams, and we've got so much more we want to achieve.

The role involves a combination of travel, working from home and from a regional hub – we have a number available throughout each region. The exact scope of the area you look after will be based upon where you live and the location of our other Fire colleagues.

What you'll be doing

You’ll undertake a variety of fire risk assessments on National Trust complex historic houses and larger National Trust holiday accommodation plus other building types where required.

You’ll be taking existing fire risk assessments and reviewing them against established National Trust policy to produce a revised assessment which identifies specific mitigations.

Professional Indemnity Insurance is provided for employees undertaking this role in connection with National Trust business during the course of their employment.

Who we're looking for

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible in this role. We’d love to hear from you if you have:

•          Relevant qualification in fire safety & fire risk assessment e.g. Fire Protection Association, NEBOSH, Graduate of the Institute of Fire Engineers

•          Fire risk management and fire risk assessment expertise

•          Recognised listing on a national recognised register for fire risk assessors or have suitable comparable practical experience of fire risk assessing

•          Working knowledge of current fire safety legislation, building regulations and technical standards

•          Knowledge of working within the Heritage environment

•          Knowledge of working within a sleeping risk environment
