My client is a leading international civil engineering company, specialising in complex market segments such as Transportation, Energy, Tunnelling, Building, Civil and Structural Engineering.

Due to the company having offices in Central London and Swindon they can be flexible on the work location of the successful applicant.

About the role

They are looking to expand their Work Winning team with skilled and enthusiastic individuals to deliver various tenders across the UK.

They are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Design Manager to join their team in the civil engineering sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in design coordination, management, and leadership within large-scale civil engineering projects, and have a proven track record of supporting tender processes to secure new work.

You will oversee and manage the design process from concept through to construction, ensuring all design aspects meet tender requirements and project specifications.

You will be required to raise requests for further information internally and externally from the whole project team and collaborate in the preparation of design programmes.

Please note that this role would be office based 5 days a week until successful completion of a probationary period where you can then apply to work from home 1 day a week.

About you

It is essential that you have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Architecture, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CEng, RIBA) is preferred.

You will also be required to have previous industry experience.

The role will require you to control external consultants and client approval teams to ensure the programme and budget is maintained or bettered while maintaining the ability to think innovatively to overcome technical challenges.

You must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to persuade and influence others to gain agreement to and acceptance of ideas while being technically familiar with an extensive range of construction methods, materials and products advising on the suitability for application on site and alternatives.
