New College Swindon have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and dynamic Animal Management Technician to join the Animal Management Team.

Location: North Star Campus, Swindon, SN2 1DY

Hours: Full Time, Permanent, 5 days a week, half days including weekends

Salary: £22,692 - £28,431 per annum

Animal Management Technician- The Role:

In this role, you will be supporting lecturing staff and maintaining the Animal Management Centre alongside our established animal team.

Your main priority will be ensuring the highest standard of care and welfare takes place for our animals. You will be heavily involved in the day-to-day running of the centre as well as ensuring that students are supported in their practical lessons.

This role does not have any teaching or assessment responsibilities.

Animal Management Technician- Responsibilities:

- Monitor animal welfare and maintain optimal husbandry standards

- Build relationships with colleges to share best practices in animal husbandry

- Assist students in training and practical activities, and support lecturers in curriculum delivery

- Document and maintain accurate records (e.g., health checks, feeding logs, paperwork)

- Work with curriculum lead to develop and guide future development of provision

- Manage animal collection and oversee import/export processes based on course needs

- Monitor stock and order resources to support the curriculum

- Flexible to work 5 days a week, half days including weekends and occasional bank holidays

- Strong communication skills to build relationships with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders

Animal Management Technician– Person Specification:

- Must hold at least a level 3 qualification in Animal Management

- Must have 2 years' practical experience in a similar role

- Strong communicator and put animal welfare at the heart of your work

- Applicants with aquarist experience are especially sought after
