Workshop Plant Fitter

32,000 - 40,000 per annum DOE

Monday to Friday

An experienced Plant Fitter sought for a leading machinery and equipment hire company based in Swindon. The main responsibilities of the Plant Fitter are to carry out servicing, maintenance and repair of a range of plant and machinery as well as carrying out pre- and post-delivery inspections.

The role will be suited to an individual who has experience working with plant and heavy machinery, carrying out maintenance and inspection activities. An NVQ in Land Based Engineering / Plant Mechanics would be highly desirable, however individuals with strong experience carrying out maintenance on plant machinery will also be considered.

The Role:

  • Carry out maintenance and repairs on a variety of plant and heavy machinery.
  • Carry out pre and post hire inspections of machinery
  • Prepare equipment and machinery for hire
  • Conduct all work in accordance with Health and Safety standards and policies.
  • Report any faults and ensure all work activity is recorded
  • Replace damaged components.
  • Servicing, diagnosis, repair and inspections on excavators, rollers, dumpers and tractors

The Person:

  • Plant and Machine maintenance experience
  • Experience preparing equipment and machinery for hire
  • Experience fabricating mechanical parts and components
  • Able to follow mechanical and electrical drawings and diagrams
  • Mechanical service background with experience working with heavy machinery
  • Experience working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic machinery.
