Head of Management Accounting
- Location: Swindon (hybrid with 3 days/week in the office)
- Job Type: Full-time, permanent
- Salary: £70-80k plus £5688 car allowance
We are seeking a Head of Management Accounting to lead and manage a team of six, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial accounts and producing consistent, well-controlled financial information. This role is pivotal in embedding process excellence and ensuring best-in-class processes and controls are in operation and documented.
You will be working for a large organisation in newly refurbished offices. Â You will be part of a friendly and experienced Finance team within a great working environment, where people work together and support each other and recognise the need for work/life balance.Â
Day-to-day of the role:
- Overall responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of the SAP accounts.
- Leadership, management, and development of a team of six (4 direct and 2 indirect).
- Lead and coordinate each period end close, including production of management account data in HFM, standard reports, and Balance Sheet reviews.
- Act as the primary contact for audits and manage the relationship with auditors.
- Oversee the balance sheet and manage intercompany recharges and relationships.
- Lead the preparation of accounts for group and statutory accounts audit.
- Manage and develop finance system structures (SAP, Cognos, Navision) to keep up with reporting needs as the business evolves.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA) with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
- Previous experience in a large company or PLC, with an audit background preferred.
- Proven success in team leadership and management, with the ability to coach and train others.
- A rounded understanding of best practices in financial control, built from experience.
- Strong systems and reporting capabilities with excellent Excel skills.
- Experience with SAP, HFM, and Cognos is preferable.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Drive and tenacity to develop a best-in-class finance function, challenge current thinking, and influence in a constructive manner.
- Ability to manage in ambiguous situations and handle conflicting deadlines with a completer-finisher mindset.
