The Company

Roberts & Prowse, based in Elgin Industrial Estate, Swindon, Wiltshire, is a leading Mechanical and Electrical Services Contractor operating throughout the Home Counties, South West, and South East of the UK. Due to sustained growth and continued success, we are seeking a Handyman & Multiskilled Craftsman to join our dynamic team.

The Role

As a Handyman & Multiskilled Craftsman, you will report directly to the Senior Contracts Managers and Site Managers. Your primary responsibility will be to carry out a wide range of maintenance, repair and general building works within commercial environments across the Home Counties, South East and South West.

Duties will include:

  • General site maintenance, including working from snagging lists, routine maintenance, cosmetic upkeep and preventative maintenance.
  • Carrying out minor structural repairs such as patching walls, painting and decorating
  • Basic carpentry experience including installing stud walls, doors & frames, architraves, skirtings, locks, kitchen units and laminate flooring
  • Basic plumbing, including installing & maintaining sinks, urinals, toilets and repairing leaks
  • Assembly and installation of furniture, blinds, various office & WC fixtures & fittings
  • Minor electrical works such as changing LED light fittings and PAT testing (if trained)
  • Identifying and reporting any faults or maintenance issues
  • Ensuring all work are completed to a high standard while adhering to health and safety regulations

The Person:

To be considered for this role, you should be a fully qualified, multiskilled handyman with a proven track record in maintenance and repair work within commercial environments.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in general building maintenance and repairs
  • Basic carpentry and joinery skills
  • Basic plumbing experience
  • Knowledge of painting, decorating and general finishing works
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under minimal supervision
  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Full UK Driving License
  • CSCS Card Holder (advantageous)
  • IPAF Certification (advantageous)
  • DBS Clearance (advantageous)

Your previous positions may include: Maintenance Engineer, Handyman, Facilities Maintenance Engineer, General Builder, Property Maintenance Technician, Site Maintenance Engineer, or Multiskilled Engineer.
