Despatch Operative 

Based in Swindon (SN2)

£13p/h

Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm

We currently have a vacancy for a Despatch Operative. Within the role, you will be working closely with the Despatch Manager in maintaining the smooth operation of a fast-moving environment. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is experienced in both driving and operating forklifts, and who enjoys working in a dynamic, hands-on role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate and monitor the receipt and storage of goods
  • Unload and label paper stocks as required
  • Record and understand types of consumables
  • Navigation of Tharstern/DHL/DPD/TPN/DX and other systems within Despatch
  • Produce a daily despatch list
  • Ensuring goods leave the factory on time and in good condition.
  • Creating despatch labels and updating systems.
  • Notifying production of jobs that are not present that should be shortly despatching.
  • Booking in deliveries with customers and third parties ensuring its cost effective
  • Communicating with Customer Service & Production on job status.
  • Reading and understanding job bag instructions regarding deliveries and requirements
  • Filling in for the Despatch Manager when they are absence.
  • Understanding of up to date INCO terms
  • Produce commercial invoices, declarations and custom terms for overseas goods
  • Ensure housekeeping standards and continuous improvement are kept. to a high standard within the warehouse
  • Booking transport with carriers & staying on to ensure goods are despatched
  • Keeping purchasing up to date with paper requirements and stock not rotating
  • Ensuring stock is tidy and kept up to date
  • Provide a safe working environment, adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures
  • Control of Forklift truck management, ensuring full operational capacity and maintenance

Requirements:

  • Current FLT licence 
  • Understand of sizes and grammages, work in progress list for Print and bindery
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer skills: Microsoft applications
  • Computer literate with good numerical skills
  • Flexibility
  • Reliability
