Senior Procurement Buyer

Join a well-established organisation in the retail industry. We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Senior Procurement Buyer to become a key part of our Group Procurement team at our Support Centre in Swindon. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to delivering high standards through effective procurement strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Rationalise and develop the supplier base, incorporating UK, European, and International sourcing strategies.
  • Plan and organise categories both tactically and strategically to optimise total value.
  • Manage the end-to-end tender process (RFI/RFP) and support regular contract review processes.
  • Lead small projects and contract negotiations/renewals.
  • Support tender and negotiations for medium and large contracts.
  • Deliver cost reduction, risk mitigation, and control of annual category spend across WHSmith.
  • Provide commercial, contractual, and negotiation support to stakeholders throughout the business.
  • Manage contractual relationships with suppliers during the contracting process.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a procurement role with similar responsibilities.
  • Preferable experience in indirect category management.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to prioritise and operate under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in analysis with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Skilled in commercial contract negotiation and contract law.
  • Excellent influencing skills at all levels, capable of establishing strong working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
