Senior Procurement Buyer
- Location: Swindon (Hybrid Working – 3 days on-site per week)
- Salary: Up to £40K (Bonus of up to 15%, target of 8%)
Join a well-established organisation in the retail industry. We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Senior Procurement Buyer to become a key part of our Group Procurement team at our Support Centre in Swindon. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to delivering high standards through effective procurement strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Rationalise and develop the supplier base, incorporating UK, European, and International sourcing strategies.
- Plan and organise categories both tactically and strategically to optimise total value.
- Manage the end-to-end tender process (RFI/RFP) and support regular contract review processes.
- Lead small projects and contract negotiations/renewals.
- Support tender and negotiations for medium and large contracts.
- Deliver cost reduction, risk mitigation, and control of annual category spend across WHSmith.
- Provide commercial, contractual, and negotiation support to stakeholders throughout the business.
- Manage contractual relationships with suppliers during the contracting process.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a procurement role with similar responsibilities.
- Preferable experience in indirect category management.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to prioritise and operate under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in analysis with a high level of attention to detail.
- Skilled in commercial contract negotiation and contract law.
- Excellent influencing skills at all levels, capable of establishing strong working relationships both internally and externally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
