SEMH Higher Level Teaching Assistant
- Special secondary school
- Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs
- Leading pre-planned lessons
- Full-time/Long-term
We have worked closely with a fantastic special school in Swindon for years and they are on the lookout for a new HLTA to join the team. The school has a few different sites in Swindon and they look after students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) aged 11-16.
The school are well established in Swindon and are very proud of the important work they do there. The school is a challenging environment to work in due to the needs of the students but the staff are supporting many students who have been completely neglected in mainstream environments.
The role
The role of SEMH Higher Level Teaching Assistant is incredibly varied, you are really the school's all rounder. You will provide cover wherever necessary, whether this is supporting as a TA or what happens more regularly is leading pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects. You do not need to be a subject specialist but must feel confident leading a class of students.
You will be regularly dealing with challenging behaviour so confidence in this area is essential. The school are open to a range of applications but really you must have experience of working with secondary aged students.
