SEND Learning Mentor

My client, a nurturing and supportive school, is looking for compassionate Teaching Assistants to join their team. This is an incredible opportunity to work with children aged 2-12 who have severe or profound learning difficulties and complex needs and to be a part of a community that values every unique learning journey!

Working in a special school is a rewarding role and very different working with SEND students in a mainstream environment. You will be part of a team of LSA's working with a small number of students in a provision that is catered to their needs. This role doesn't involve challenging behaviour instead, it requires patience and empathy to support the children's access? to learning.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide support to children with severe or profound learning difficulties and complex needs
  • Foster a positive and nurturing environment
  • Assist in implementing individualised education plans
  • Assist in supervising and facilitating educational activities for individual and small groups of pupils
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and promoting their progress and achievement
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings
  • Celebrate the small successes and milestones of each child

About You

  • Be able to do the job as described
  • Experience of working with pupils in a care or education setting, particularly those with SEN
  • Nurturing and empathetic nature
  • An adaptable and collaborative team player
  • Proactive in assisting with classroom organization and resource preparation
  • Comfortable covering classes or groups in the absence of the Teacher or lead
