The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Additional Needs Tutor to join the team at Swindon Tuition Centre. This role involves working during term-time within our Alternative Provision to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). There is potential for this position to be extended with additional after-school community tuition for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan and deliver 1:1 or small group tuition in Maths and English, up to primary/functional skills level

- Work with students with complex additional needs, including SEMH and SEND

- Safeguard students and support their emotional well-being, keeping attendance and progress data up to date

- Oversee strategies, risks, and outcomes for key students, understanding their individual needs

- Manage behaviour using de-escalation techniques and liaise with parents and carers

- Collaborate with the Manager and Seniors to create an engaging classroom environment

- Build positive relationships with students, their families, and other professionals

- Be flexible to work across our three Swindon centres or offsite as needed

- Stay updated with the national curriculum and maintain current subject knowledge

- Provide constructive feedback on students' work and support academic progress

- Assist students with test preparation, homework, and projects

- Communicate professionally with parents, carers, and external agencies

- Participate in regular training and professional development opportunities
